Dr. Narendra Kumar is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aviation Sciences and Aerospace Engineering. Previously, he worked at Harbin Institute of Technology Shenzhen as a postdoctoral fellow under the guidance of Prof. Yu Zhou and Prof. Jaime Mi. During his time at HIT, he investigated the effect of active control and Reynolds number on subsonic jets using hotwire, PIV, and data-driven methods.
Before HIT, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Smart Materials, Structures and Systems (SMSS) Lab, Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur under the guidance of Professor Bishakh Bhattacharya and Prof Gautam Biswas. As a postdoc, he worked on the project titled "Design and Development of Model Cargo-Hyperloop using Pipe Following Robot", investigating the fluid dynamics of a cargo wagon traveling inside a pipeline, driven by compressed air pressure.
Dr Kumar's research expertise spans both aerospace and mechanical engineering, with a focus on advancing understanding in aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, jet flows, and aeroacoustics. He is proficient in both experimental and computational methods. He is passionate about solving complex fluid dynamics problems and enhancing the understanding of jet aerodynamics and mixing characteristics.
In addition to research, he also works as an Academic Tutor at TeacherOn.com, where he provides online tutoring and mentoring to students and professionals in the fields of aerospace engineering, CFD, and aerodynamics.
